What Kind Of Shampoo Is Best For Your Hair Type?

It can be difficult to figure out what shampoo to buy for your hair type. Is it limp and lifeless? Curly and frizzy? Thick with plenty of split ends? Here is a basic overview to help you find the shampoo that will keep your hair looking natural, soft and manageable.

Normal

If you have normal healthy hair, congratulations! Very few women are blessed with such a gift. The key for normal hair is to avoid causing damage by using as little chemicals and heat styling as possible. You can choose from a wide variety of shampoos but just avoid any with added moisture or volume as these can make hair appear dull or oily. Instead opt for products such as Joico Daily Care – Balancing Shampoo or Brazilian Blowout Shampoo with Volume as these types of shampoos are designed to maintain your hairs health and protect against styling keeping hair healthy without adding weight.

Color Treated

Color treated hair requires special shampoo formulated to keep hair color bright while offering added protection against the chemicals used during the coloring treatment. Look for products such as Rusk Bright Shampoo or Joico Color Endure. Without proper color treated shampoo you will slowly strip the color from your hair making it look dull.

Curly Hair

In order to stay on good terms with those curls you have to seek curl friendly shampoos that do not contain damaging ingredients such as sulphates. Look for products that will keep curls springy and smooth and lessen the chances of frizz such as Tigi Catwalk Curlesque or Rusk Calm Shampoo Sulfate free. These shampoos will help you sustain your hair’s natural oils needed to keep curls smooth and bouncy.

Frizzy and Dry Hair

There are many causes of frizz but one common cure: moisture. Look for shampoos that contain argon oil such as Agadir Argon Shampoo or products such as GK Moisturizing Shampoo and Joico Moisture Recovery. Dry hair is much like frizzy hair, but does not necessarily have the frizz. It tends to be brittle which means it is more prone to breakage which can lead to more of an unruly look but can also look frizzy when very damaged. Dry hair requires moisture as well and Chi Infra Shampoo or Macadamia Rejuvenating Shampoo will cleanse while restoring much needed moisture.
