Yoga for Different Areas of the Body

by | Jul 26, 2016 | Yoga

Finding the best exercise isn’t all about going to the gym and picking out a soulless workout that requires nothing from you other than a mindless repetition of techniques and movements. Want more? You can certainly have that by enrolling in a yoga class. Most poses are best for:

Core

There are so many yoga poses, with plenty designed to strengthen your core muscle. Want a tighter stomach? You could practice side planks. If you want to really eliminate the unwanted fat off your abs, then hold that boat pose for as long as you can. It’s the pose that requires you to balance on your sit bones while you try your hardest to hold your legs up. It’s guaranteed to make you sweat a lot.

Arms

There’s no need to invest in some weights just for stronger and better arms. Yoga teaches you how to use your own body weight. Planks, for instance, allow equal weight distribution between your arms and legs. The crow pose, though, make your arms support the full weight of your body so the burn is all focused on those muscles.

Legs

Squats and bridges along with other poses that incorporate a lot of knee bends work on your hips and thighs. On a plus note, it also makes for a great exercise for your glutes, since bends help make your rear tighter and give it more shape.

Back

Many of the poses also give your back a good, long stretch which is a great way to keep those muscles from getting sore. If you spend all hours of the day hunched over a computer in a cubicle, these can help relieve chronic back pain too, says Live Science.
